Estimados padres y tutores:

Mañana y el miércoles, nuestros estudiantes participarán en el Sistema de Evaluación de la Competencia en el Idioma Inglés de Texas (TELPAS). Esta evaluación es una herramienta vital que nos ayuda a medir el progreso de nuestros estudiantes en el aprendizaje del inglés y garantiza que estemos brindando el mejor apoyo posible para su crecimiento académico.

Para asegurar que su estudiante tenga el mejor entorno de evaluación posible, tenga en cuenta los siguientes requisitos:

🕒 Asistencia y Horario
La asistencia es fundamental: Por favor, asegúrese de que su hijo(a) esté en la escuela ambos días de evaluación.
Llegue a tiempo: Las pruebas comienzan puntualmente por la mañana. Las llegadas tarde pueden interrumpir el entorno de la prueba para otros y pueden resultar en que su estudiante deba asistir a una sesión de recuperación.
No se permiten salidas anticipadas: Los estudiantes no pueden abandonar el salón de clases una vez que hayan comenzado. Por favor, no programe citas médicas ni recogidas anticipadas para mañana o el miércoles.

💻 Preparación Tecnológica
Cargue las Chromebooks: Los estudiantes deben cargar sus dispositivos completamente esta noche.
Traiga los cargadores: Por si acaso, envíe el cable de carga a la escuela junto con la Chromebook.

🎒 Logística y Suministros
No se permiten mochilas: Para mantener un entorno de prueba seguro, no se permitirán mochilas en el edificio durante estos dos días.
Deje los aparatos electrónicos en casa: Todos los dispositivos electrónicos ajenos a la prueba (relojes inteligentes, tabletas personales, etc.) deben permanecer en casa.

Important: TELPAS Testing Schedule & Requirements (Tomorrow & Wednesday)

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Tomorrow and Wednesday, our students will be participating in the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS). This assessment is a vital tool that helps us measure our students' progress in learning English and ensures we are providing the best possible support for their academic growth.

To ensure your student has the best testing environment possible, please note the following requirements:
🕒 Attendance and Timing
Attendance is critical: Please ensure your child is at school on both testing days.
Arrive on time: Testing begins promptly in the morning. Late arrivals can disrupt the testing environment for others and may result in your student needing to attend a make-up session.
No early dismissals: Students cannot leave the testing room once they have started. Please do not schedule doctor’s appointments or early pick-ups for tomorrow or Wednesday.

💻 Technology Preparation
Charge Chromebooks: Students must charge their devices fully tonight.
Bring Chargers: Please send the charging cable to school with the Chromebook.

🎒 Logistics and Supplies
No Backpacks: To maintain a secure testing environment, backpacks are not allowed in the building on these two days.
Leave Electronics at Home: All non-testing electronic devices (smartwatches, personal tablets, etc.) should remain at home.

🍎 Health and Wellness
Success starts with a fresh mind! Please help your student:
Get a full night’s rest.
Eat a healthy breakfast before arriving or at school.

Our GEAR UP Ambassadors recently had the opportunity to attend the SEEDS field trip at Region One, where they participated in an interactive leadership workshop focused on building confidence, communication, and leadership skills.

These students were selected because they consistently demonstrate strong leadership, dedication, and active participation within our program. Throughout the workshop, they engaged in meaningful discussions and activities that challenged them to grow as leaders and role models among their peers.

The Laredo Independent School District is hosting its sixth annual Scholars Golf Tournament on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Casa Blanca Golf Course.


Funds raised from the Golf Tournament will benefit scholarships for deserving graduating seniors from the Hector J. Garcia Early College High School, Raymond and Tirza Martin High School, J.W. Nixon High School, and Dr. Leonides Cigarroa High School
